FAQ – What You Need to Know About dotBrand
A dotBrand is a Top-Level Domain (TLD) like .com or .org, but instead of a generic extension, it features your brand name to the right of the dot. You own and control the entire namespace, ensuring exclusivity and security.
A dotBrand domain ensures that only verified entities can register domain names under your TLD, eliminating risks from fraud, phishing, and impersonation. It also enhances internal security, ensuring employees can trust communications and platforms within your dotBrand ecosystem.
Yes, they are just two different ways of referring to the same concept – a top-level domain (TLD) that features your brand name to the right of the dot, such as .yourbrand.

We can support you through the application process and help prepare for registry operations, policies, launch and ongoing management.
Your existing domain names remain unchanged. A dotBrand TLD can complement or, if needed, replace your current domain strategy, offering greater flexibility, brand consistency, and security.
Yes, managing a dotBrand domain requires registry-level infrastructure, but Abion can handle the technical operations, compliance, and strategy so your team doesn't need to build it in-house.
The process involves ICANN approvals and technical setup, which can take several months. Planning early with Abion’s strategic guidance ensures a smooth and efficient application.
A similar string does not automatically constitute infringement. Abion can help you assess the potential risk and explore appropriate next steps, including monitoring, legal assessment and available objection mechanisms.
Not necessarily. The right approach depends on your trade marks, business priorities and exposure. A risk-based strategy helps you focus on the strings and domains that matter most.
