This is a step-by-step guide for setting up your email account in Windows Live Mail 2009.
Android 2.3 and later - mail03.portsit.se
We recommend that you use IMAP on mobile devices.
Click the Mail app (envelope with an @ symbol). If you don't already have an account set up, straight away you'll be asked to create an account. Fill in the email address and password you received from us, and then click Next.
Select IMAP as type of account.
Type mail03.portsit.se as the IMAP server. Your email address and password should already be filled in. Then click Next.
Fill in mail03.portsit.se as SMTP server and change the port to 366. Select "Require sign-in" and fill in your email address and password. Then click Next.
You do not need to make any changes here. Synchronizing emails and notification should already be selected. Click Next.
Fill in the name that you want displayed when you send an email and then click Done!
iPhone/iPad - mail03.portsit.se
We recommend that you use IMAP on mobile devices.
Go to Settings (Gear icon) and select Mail.
Select Add Account.
Select "Other".
Select "Add Mail Account".
Fill in a name for your account, email address, password, and description.
Select IMAP and fill in the name of the account and your email address.
Scroll down and enter mail03.portsit.se as the host name for incoming and outgoing email. Then enter your email address and password. This must be done on both the incoming and outgoing mail server, so it is not optional (even if your iPhone/iPad may think so).
Select Next and specify that you want to manage email for the account. Then press save.
Some changes need to be made to the outgoing mail server. (From the home screen) go to Settings, Mail, and select the account you created. Then click SMTP. Change the server port to 366, check SSL is not active, and that authentication is on Password. Then click Done.
You are now ready to send and receive email with your iPhone/iPad!
In Outlook, click File in the top left-hand corner.
On this tab, click the Add account button.
Check the selection at the bottom, Manually configure server settings or additional server types, and click Next >.
Leave the Internet E-mail option checked and click Next >.
In the next box, it's time to fill in your account details as follows:
Fill in your first and last name in the Your Name box
Fill in your email address in the E-mail Address box
In the Account Type box, select the account type (POP3 or IMAP).
In the following boxes:
Incoming mail server and
Outgoing mail server (SMTP)
enter: mail03.portsit.se
Fill in your entire email address in the User Name box.
Fill in your password in the Password box.
Outgoing server
To set up outgoing email, click the More Settings button and click the Outgoing Server tab. Check the box that Outlook should use the same settings as for the incoming mail server.
Ports
If you want to replace the outgoing port from 25, which is the default SMTP port for outgoing traffic, you can do so by clicking the Advanced tab.
Then fill in 366 in the field after Outgoing server (SMTP). This is where you can fill in if you want to leave a copy on the server and for how many days it is to be saved. This can be advantageous if you want to set up the account in several places, but it also increases the risk that the account will be full and unable to receive emails. It is recommended to save a copy for about 7 days on the server before they are deleted.
To test that all details have been filled in correctly, you can now close the box and click the Test Account Settings... button. Then a test message will be sent and received by your email account. If this test shows no errors, you can click Next. Click Finish and you’re ready!
