Gothenburg, Sweden | Madrid, Spain – 10th March 2026
Abion, a global provider of Intellectual Property (IP) services, announces that Baylos, one of Spain’s most highly regarded firms specialising in industrial and intellectual property and technology law, is joining the company. This marks an important step in Abion’s long-term strategy to expand internationally, strengthen specialist competencies, and deliver an even more complete IP offering for brand owners.
A strategic fit driving long-term growth
The integration aligns directly with Abion’s strategy to grow through a combination of advanced technology, specialist capabilities and international expansion. The Spanish market remains highly fragmented, often requiring brand owners to work with multiple providers across IP management, domain services and brand protection. This has created a clear opportunity to extend Abion’s integrated global model into the region, combining legal advisory and dispute resolution with the management of trademark portfolios, domains and digital security under one roof. With Baylos now part of the group, Abion further reinforces its position in Southern Europe and enhances its ability to serve clients in a market where specialist expertise and trusted local support are critical.
Jesper Knudsen, CEO of Abion, commented:
“Bringing a top-tier Spanish firm like Baylos on board strengthens our legal team with an excellent group of IP specialists and adds another key jurisdiction to our growing portfolio. This further enhances our ability to support clients across an increasingly international landscape.”
He added:
“What drew us to Baylos was not only their strong reputation in the Spanish market, but also their culture. They share our commitment to excellence, client-centricity and sustainable long-term growth. Together, we will create a stronger, more capable partner for clients and move closer to our vision of becoming a leading global IP firm.”
The founders of Baylos echoed this sentiment, noting that joining Abion marks a natural and forward-looking step in the firm’s evolution.
David Gómez, Managing Partner at Baylos, said:
“For us, this was the natural next step. Abion represents a distinctive international firm that is truly specialised in IP. By joining Abion, we strengthen our global reach while remaining deeply focused on intellectual property, and we ensure we continue progressing at the forefront of the technological developments shaping our profession.”
He continued:
“We deliberately sought a partner with strong cultural and professional alignment. This integration is possible because we share the same vision for how IP law should be practiced, with a genuine commitment to our clients and people. This means the same trusted team in Spain, now supported by broader international coverage and enhanced capabilities.”
Enhanced capabilities and value for clients
The integration reinforces Abion’s position across Europe and deepens its capabilities in legal expertise and services. Together, Abion and Baylos are excited to build an even stronger, more integrated and broader offering that combines world-class legal expertise with technology-enabled services to deliver greater value for clients.
Clients will benefit from a single partner across IP legal services, domain management, brand protection and web security supported locally in Spain and across Abion’s international network.
For Baylos’ existing clients, day-to-day relationships and teams will remain unchanged, while the capabilities behind them both internationally and in terms of services will be significantly strengthened.
This partnership also creates new opportunities across the combined client base and supports Abion’s continued expansion of services in the Spanish market.
Baylos to rebrand as Abion in 2026
Both companies are committed to ensuring a seamless transition as the integration activities will take place over the next 6-12 months. Baylos will continue operating under its current brand during the transition period, with a planned rebrand to Abion during 2026 and full integration by the end of 2026.
A Promising Future
This strategic milestone marks an important step in Abion’s growth strategy. By combining global reach with local expertise and a strong team of specialists, Abion and Baylos are well positioned to raise the standard of IP services in Spain and across international markets.
