Abion / Blog / It is more important than ever to protect your trade mark through email
Protect the brand via email

With this article we want to explain the importance of protecting your brand but also summarizing the importance of Verified Mark Certificate. How this certificate will affect your emails and how important this is for protecting your brand, your customers & suppliers. Even though you feel that this is nothing that has been critical in your business so far – we can assure you that it will.

To start with - What is Verified Mark Certificate?

The VMC (Verified Mark Certificate) is the first solution in the history of email that will allow the recipient to visually see that your email is legitimate and that the organization is the one it claims to be. VMC builds upon the standard BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) and DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance) implementation is a requirement.

VMC is a game changer that will forever change the way we look at emails. Up until now there is no other way to visibly state “This email comes from the organization it claims to come from”.

One could ask if SPF, DMARC, and DKIM isn't enough? Why do you need VMC?

Out of all verification methods and security mechanisms, Verified Mark Certificate is the only way for a typical email user to determine if they can trust to open your email or not. This is why VMC will become the most important part of security for your outgoing emails.

So far so good - right? But the most important of the basics in Verified Mark Certificate is not highlighted yet, namely the logo.

This is where the journey begins.

The logo has to be registered as a trade mark to be able to use the Verified Mark Certificate. To receive a registered trade mark generally takes from four months up to a year. Why is that? Good question, the time frame is due to the authority to handle the application and also for third parties to oppose the application, all in order to have a legitimate trade mark. By this fact, it is important to submit a trade mark application as early as possible. After assuring the registration of your logo you will be able to use the VMC and let you rest assured that you and your customers can rely on the email marketing.

The only headache you have to worry about is being proactive and by that meaning contacting your attorney at law which handles your trade mark rights.

Be the first to show your logo in the recipient's inbox

Register your interest in VMC and let us review your conditions.
