How secure is your brand?
Today, when speaking of brand protection, it has a broader meaning than just the traditional legal aspects. Brands are exposed to other types of threats in a digital and global environment. Defined legal infringements continue to be replaced by new sorts of infringements, digital and technological threats. Therefore, in order to protect the brand completely, different solutions are needed today. You have to understand the legal parts and combine them together with technological services for the best result.
Email fraud is one of the most common threats towards brands. DigiCert, one of the world's largest providers of digital security, is now testing through a new Verified Mark Certificate (VMC), a process for verifying email senders.
A precondition for VMC is that the applicant has a legal trade mark registration (logotype) and thus can show their right to the trade mark. With a VMC, the logo is visible in the sender's mail and the recipient can directly determine if the sender is legitimate. VMC is likely to be standard by next year.
- VMC is a clear example of how developments are moving towards the integration of technology and law. Today, great damage can happen long before legal action takes effect. As a platinum partner to DigiCert, we follow the development of VMC closely, says Marie Widmark, Business Development Manager at Abion.
